After three years in the studio, two years of follow-up work and a seemingly never-ending wait, after dozens of phone calls and faxes that Bernard Goffin, the contract negotiator with the label, passed on to Thierry and me to keep our hopes up, on 18th November 1995, after Peter Gabriel had given the go-ahead from Australia (where he was on tour), the Artiste & Repertoire department at RealWorld took the decision to release the CD! I have learned to respect the way life maps out its own paths for us. A Russian friend of Jewish origin told me one day of an old adage passed down by her Grandmother, whose whole family had been exterminated, "My girl, life is like the skin of a Zebra - it is made up of black and white."
